The Lancome home microdermabrasion kit is simple and consists of only two components:

  1. Skin polishing cream
  2. Skin replenishing serum

Lancome microdermabrasion cream

The Lancome home microdermabrasion cream is responsible for performing the exfoliation process on the skin. It contains a high concentration (20%) of aluminium oxide crystals similar to those used in professional microdermabrasion machines. This ensures a good strength of exfoliation yet is still gentle enough not to cause skin damage due to excessive use.

Lancome microdermabrasion cream comes in a 1.7pz glass jar and has a white creamy consistency. Unlike many other microdermabrasion creams, Lancome is fragrance free which reduces the risk of negative skin reactions to ingredients.

The unique selling point of Lancome microdermabrasion cream is its physio-polish enhancer which works in combination with the microdermabrasion crystals to provide a superior exfoliation. The physio-polish enhancer is formulated to weaken the bond between dead skin cells making it easier for the crystals to exfoliate the top layer of skin.

Lancome microdermabrasion serum

Lancome post treatment serum is used after the microdermabrasion cream has been applied and washed off, and it designed to counter act the negative side effects of microdermabrasion. Because microdermabrasion is an abrasive procedure this can leave the skin dry, sore and red. Lancome post treatment serum contains vitamin C which is a nourishing skin soother and anti oxidant which helps to keep the skin fresh, clean and cool. Lancome post treatment serum has the consistency of a greasy liquid which is designed to maximise absorption into the skin.

Using Lancome microdermabrasion kit

The Lancome home microdermabrasion kit follows a simple two step system of exfoliation followed by skin replenishment. Unlike several other home microdermabrasion systems, Lancome does not use any accessories and requires the consumer to apply the cream to their face using fingertips.

Lancome recommend that their home microdermabrasion kit be used 2-3 times week; however, those with highly sensitive skin may want to reduce this to once a week.

Lancome also recommend that their microdermabrasion kit be used at night before applying night moisturising creams. This is because using the microdermabrasion kit first will increase the absorption rate of skin care products used afterwards.

The directions for using the Lancome home microdermabrasion kit are as follows:

  1. Wash face to remove make up, dirt and grease
  2. Apply microdermabrasion cream to a damp face
  3. Massage cream into each part of face for about 1 minute.
  4. Rinse off cream with warm water
  5. Pat face dry with towel
  6. Apply post treatment serum to face

It’s important to use your own discretion about how hard to massage and for how long. Once you get used to using the home microdermabrasion kit you’ll get to know the right level to obtain a thorough exfoliation without harming our skin.

Lancome microdermabrasion kit costs

The Lancome home microdermabrasion kit retails at $84. Alternatively, the microdermabrasion cream and post treatment serum can be bought individually for about $40 each. Lancome microdermabrasion kit is slightly more expensive than average considering the lack of accessories and the relatively small size 1.7oz cream tub.
