Microdermabrasion skin treatment kits

Microdermabrasion treatment has perhaps become today one of the most common treatments in the the beauty skin care industry. Only a few years ago recieving microdermabraion would be a treatment limited to the dermatologist's clinic or a beauty spa in which the beauticians were properly trained and qualified to use proffesional microdermabrasion machines. However, the microdermabrasion industry has come a long way over recent years and due to increased popularity many of the industry leaders in the skincare world have rpoduced their own at home microdermabrasion kits.

Microdermabrasion cosmetic procedure

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure primarily designed to treat rough skin and make it more smooth. This is achieved by encouraging the growth of new skin cells by exfoliating the top layer of the skin. Microdermabrasion relies on very fine microdermabtasion crystals, usually made from aluminium oxide to abrade away the top layer of the skin. Although microdermabrasion is used mainly on the face to treat skin conditions such as acne and acne scars, it has proven to be quite effective as part of a treatment program for reducing the visible signs of stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion treatment courses

Usually a series of between 8-12 microdermabrasion treatments is recommended depending on the condition that is intended to be treated. Results are not permenant, however after recieving the initial microdermabrasion treatments it's only necessery to contintue with occaional follow up microdermabrasion treatments once every few months.

Home microdermabrasion kit advantages

The two main advantages of at home microdermabrasion kits are that they are cheaper and easier to use than proffesional microdermabrasion. Proffesional microdermabrasion costs around $100 per single treatment, whereas an at home microdermabrasion kit can be bought for about $30-50. A home microdermabrasion can typically be used for up to a dozen treatments making it alot cheaper. Home microdermabrasion kits are also more convenient because you can use them whenever you want from the provacy and comfort of your own home.

Home microdermabrasion risks

If you are thinking of purchasing a home microdermabrasion kit you should be aware of a couple of necessery precautions. The main danger with using a home microdermabrasion kit is that you may damage your skin through over use. It can be tempting to use the home microdermabrasion kit daily to achieve an instant glow to the skin. However, if you remember that microdermabrasion works by peeling off a layer of skin you will understand that doing too much of this can be harmful. The risks of microdermabrasion are increased if you have particualrly sensitive skin or other skin conditions.
